New Design

Its been a while since this site got a full out, drastic redesign. I think it was about time, and I’m really happy with this new look. If you’re reading this in a feedreader, you should click through and check out the site.

I’d also love to hear what you guys think.

If you liked this post, don't forget to subscribe to my RSS feed or my email newsletter so you never miss the science.

Take this quick survey and tell me what social media data you'd like to see me analyze.

I mentioned it earlier via twitter, I really like it and it’s simple and clean – good work!

you got one problem though with this comment box. somehow it is too big and it goes into the right sidebar (using FF).

who has done the design? you?

    Nice changes Dan.

    * Your sidebar is still a bit too long and cluttered for me. I would recommend using a tool like crazyegg.com and deciding which of those links to get rid of.

    * Your comment box is also rolling onto the sidebar – its width is too big. (At least in firefox3.)

    * There is no footer. Use the footer to declutter the sidebar.

    * I would bunch up “ProtoViral” “Key Posts” and “Recent Posts” in one box-with-tabs.

    * Would get rid of archives altogether. In my experience, hardly anyone clicks on to a specific month. One single archive page with a listing of all your posts according to when it was posted is a better idea.

    * I would provide just 5-7 main categories. And then have a link called “All other categories”

Overall – except the sidebar – its a pretty clean design.

I like the clean look. Polaroids and tape give a personal touch.

In Chrome, though, the comments are larger than the main body text and bunched together as one big paragraph without thumbnails. The side bar is positioned correctly in Chrome, but starts below the main content in IE.

Yesterday was my first time to visit your blog, and I immediately bookmarked it under my “great designs” bookmark folder. It made a real impression and is one of the reasons I subscribed to the RSS. You might consider having the RSS button above the fold, and perhaps the search button too.
