I love speaking to large and small groups about social media and viral marketing. I have an analytical point-of-view and use tons of research and graphs to go beyond “guesswork” to get into the actual reality of a subject.

I’m also pretty geeky so I’m quite passionate about these topics–and it shows in my presentaions. I can tailor my content to audiences ranging from super-technical to total beginners and everywhere in between.

I’ve spoken at PubCon, Search Engine Strategies, Convergence ‘09, 140 The Twitter Conference, WordCamp Mid Atlantic, Social Media Camp, Inbound Marketing Bootcamp, The Texas Domains and Developers Conference, Cool Twitter Conference Boston and IOWAtasmic ‘09.

I can create a presentation and speak about any social, search or viral marketing topic you’d like, but some of my favorite things to talk about include:

  • The Science of Social Media Marketing: Through study of academic research into pre-web social and viral communications this session will cover how and why humans have spread content for thousands of years. Including urban legends, rumors, slang, chain letters and contagious laughter, audience members will learn the prototypical characteristics of contagious information and how those lessons can be applied to the web. Dan will also include an overview ofthe science of memetics and the value it can provide to modern viral marketers.

  • The Science of ReTweets: I’ve collected and analyzed over 30 million ReTweets. This presentation uses real data to teach you how to get more ReTweets, including best practices for word choice, subject matter, timing, linking and tone.
  • Extending the Blog: This presentation will teach you how to integrate the wide range of social media platforms available today onto your blog, including Twitter, Facebook, and social news and voting sites. I also explore the technical possibilities and limitations with more ambitious integrations.

  • Social Media Marketing 101: Whether you’re a traditional marketing professional new to the web or a rabid Facebooker new to marketing, this session will introduce you to the fundamentals of social media marketing. Covering topics including social networking, blogging, microblogging, media sharing and virtual worlds, you’ll come away with actionable insights to start launching your own integrated, high ROI social media campaigns. I’m the author of an upcoming book on this topic to be published by O’Reilly.

  • Social Media Conversion and ROI: So you’ve gone viral and gotten truck loads of traffic. Now what? In this session you will learn how to build targeted calls to action to convert those visitors from social sites into leads as well as test and optimize your existing offers. Including details on analytics, multivariate testing, and usability with a focus on real data, after this session you’ll be ready to start turning your social media successes into big bucks.
