I’m trying to conduct a little study into how messages travel in the Twitter-verse. Care to help? There are 2 steps you can take to help build data:
1) Retweet the link to this page, and ask your followers to retweet it too (please use this tinyurl: http://tinyurl.com/4kldcj.)
2) Comment here on this page, with your Twitter username and the username of the person who’s Tweet caused you to come here.
If this works out, I should be able to have a bit of data to report on in a few days.

I’ve got nearly a thousand followers and they pay attention to my Twitter posts because I’m not jerking them around, messing with their attention. I don’t post a dozen times a day, I try to keep the signal-to-noise ratio up as high as I can, and this just doesn’t qualify as signal.
I’m not going to risk losing their trust in me just to participate in some social experiment and give you pageviews. It’s just not worth it.

@mike rundle, yeah, i understand, we all have our own definitions of “signal.” A big part of what I do is what i call (with toungue firmly in cheek) “science” so I do a lot of tests and experiments and I love seeing what I can learn from them.

Asking for people to pass along a chain-letter in tweets is about the worst idea I have ever heard. It doesn’t matter if the medium used is postal mail, email or tweets, chain-letters are chain-letters. Even if you start them with the best of intentions you do not retain the capability of stopping them.
