You should use TweetSuite rather than a TweetBacks plugin.
I’ve just put together a WordPress Plugin that take advantage of the new features I built into TweetBacks. This is still beta stuff and you should expect updates to it soon and frequently. For the most part v.2 of the JS version works the easiest.
I’ve gotten a few questions about this, after you activate the plugin, you have to go to Settings>TweetBacks and enable it.
And that’s the new logo by the amazing GoMedia above.

If you liked this post, don't forget to subscribe to my RSS feed or my email newsletter so you never miss the science.

A quick suggestion – this plugin idea is very cool and I think it has a HUGE potential to make a blog post go viral, at least on twitter.
No imagine that if you display not only TweetBack but hyperlink (even no follow) the people’s handle to the actual twitter account. I think it can have a log more interest!

This is awesome. Is it java script?

Trying out the plugin now. So far, I didn’t see the Tweetback show up but I would imagine it could be a little delayed? Either way, excellent idea and plugin.

Great plugin! Just installed it on my Thesis themed blog at http://www.howtomakemyblog.com. I have two questions: how can I stop tweets of my blog main page showing on my main page? And how do I move the tweets under the comments? Thanks for your time.
January 8th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
I installed it but the stats option won’t stay enabled. Also, is there a way you make an option for the tweetbacks to be posted after the comments?

I love the Tweetback concept and I’m anxious to make it work on my new site. I installed the plugin but tweets aren’t showing up. The plugin code shows up in the page source but there’s no content. I made 3 test tweets (1 with the un-shortened URL, 2 with shortened URLs using different services) a few hours ago.

I downloaded, installed and activated. I saw on another post that something needs to be added to the theme in order for tweets to show up. Do I need to add something else to get the “tweet this” button?

Hey Dan great tool here. I downloaded this and like everyone else it takes a long time to load when transferring data from Digg and Yoursite. I am looking forward to your new versions and hopefully this will be cleared up soon! Great job!

Really neat plugin, will check it out..
January 8th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
Yay! Glad to see the new logo up already Dan. I am going to install the new plugin version tonight.

This looks tremendous! Makes perfect sense
Looking forward to following this plug-in for a long time to come!
January 8th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
Really looking forward to trying this plugin out.
To me, Tweetbacks are as important as trackbacks. I was hoping someone would come up with something like this!
Thanks,

Nice work Dan. This is a great tool.
January 8th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
I put this on the pro-blogger site where I heard about it …
January 8th, 2009 at 11:32 pm
Very cool, I’ll definitely give it a try. Btw I also liked the logo a lot.
January 8th, 2009 at 11:38 pm
Like Seth (#13), I installed and activated the plugin, and enabled Tweetbacks under settings. I test-tweeted a post twice (once with the full URL and once with the URL shortened with twurl), but the tweets aren’t showing up; after the post, it says “No TweetBacks yet.”
Also, in my admin panel, I checked the box to enable Tweetstats, but when I click “Save Changes” the checkmark disappears.
January 8th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
I’ve installed and enabled this but I’d rather be able to leave it globally disabled and then manually add something to single.php so I can get everything arranged and styled the way I want it to. At the moment it’s showing up on pages with trackbacks/comments disabled, and in other inappropriate places such as my archives page where the page “content” is actually null (content comes from the page template) so the tweetbacks are showing up at the top, and some other non-optimal stuff.
Fantastic idea though, and much needed! I understand it’s only a beta release and that’s cool
Thanks for the hard work you’re putting into it.

Just installed at:
http://www.fredmckinnon.com/myblog/
Like @tim above, I can’t make the stats option stay selected, as soon as I check it to enable it and click save, it goes away.
So far, I’m not seeing anything – should it be instant? (yeah, I shamelessly tweeted my latest blog’s URL just to see if it would show up).
On a side note I’m using IntenseDebate for comments, so it could be that this won’t work if I’m using IntenseDebate?
January 9th, 2009 at 12:47 am
Very cool. I put it on MaTweeps.com, but it doesn’t seem to be picking up very many of the tweetbacks. Does it only pick up specific ones?
January 9th, 2009 at 12:48 am
My email was screwed up on that last post btw.
January 9th, 2009 at 2:18 am
amazing concept but it completely slows down my website
January 9th, 2009 at 4:23 am
Just wondering if this is compatible with blogger…

interesting plugin,,,, will keep an eye on it.
cheers!

How great!
Is it just a WordPress plugin? Would it be easy to build it for Drupal?
January 9th, 2009 at 7:17 am
When is the plugin likely to be out of beta?
January 9th, 2009 at 7:25 am
Great plugin Dan just what i have been waiting for.
January 9th, 2009 at 7:56 am
Great idea – plugin installed and enabled….
Nothing showing up yet, so will leave it a while and see if it’s lag, a template issue, or something else…
January 9th, 2009 at 9:36 am
awesome wordpress plugin Dan!
would be great if it had COLLAPSIBLE comments similar to Facebook comments on your wall after it reach 5+ comments/tweetbacks. This way if the blog post goes super viral you dont have to scroll for 5 minutes to get to the comments of a post.
January 9th, 2009 at 1:39 pm
LOVE this idea, glad someone thought of it.
I tried the plug in as well as just entering the script (beneath my author box and above comments), nothing shows up.
I keep seeing that you have to go to “Settings –> Tweetbacks” to enable it but the only option I have there is to clean up the Twitter DB. I don’t see anything that says “Enable”.
January 9th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
I managed to get the tweetbacks showing on my site, but they’re just bundled in with other comments, rather than separated as you’ve got them here.
Any suggestions on what additional formatting I might need to do?
Also would it be possible to edit out your own tweets (I don’t normally tweet myself but was trying to get contributions for something today which meant I had to)

Loving this.. Is is possible to modify the JS version so that we can specify a Div to fill? Right now, putting the JS inline on the page really slows down pageload.. I’ld rather put an empty container on the page & put the JS at the bottom of the page.. That way the whole content loads, and then the TweetBacks/TweetStats fill in later.

Installed the tweetbacks WP plugin, then see an option to appy an upgrade, which turns out to be the WP plugin from Yoast. Huh?
January 11th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
I installed, activated, and enabled Tweetbacks. Each post nows shows 100 random tweets, not at all relevant to the post, much less linked to it.
Also installed it on another blog, with a more updated WP but not the current version, and there was an option to upgrade, which I did before seeing that the “other” didn’t have that option. Once I upgraded, there was no option to enable and it looked different from the “other” one.

HALP??!!!!???
January 11th, 2009 at 10:23 pm
So, there are TWO different WP Tweetback Plug-ins, created by TWO different people? And installing one gives a mssg that it (meaning the other) is available for an update? My head is spinning, LOL. Again.. HALP?

I really like your TweetBack plugin, I will definitely try out your new TweetSuite. Thanks for the great plugins.

I loved the plugin, but found that it bloated my WP_Option table. It's full of Tweetbacks_mutex entries. Its gotten so big that it is affecting performance and upgrade issues. I uninstalled and cleaned up, but it did not clear out the SQL table.
How do I flush out these entries?

Awesome plug-in man! I've installed it on my sprained ankle blog. Quality craftsmanship on this baby man, hope you keep updating it!
