Introducing: The Social Media Marketing Book

Nov 23rd 2009 View Comments

As you may or may not know, I’ve been working on a book for a while. Well, its finally done and in-stock on Amazon and should be in stores this week. The whole process has been very exciting and a lot of work (I had a ton of help from a great editor, Laurel as well as a whole bunch of other people who are mentioned in the back of the book).

The book is a very tactical, hands-on introduction to a wide range of social media marketing technologies, platforms, sites and opportunities. It’s a little different from the social media science stuff I do here on my blog, but it is based on real data and best practices as much as possible.

I’d like to ask you guys for two favors. One, if you like my work, buy a copy (or a few hundred). But even better, if you have a blog, email me a few questions for an interview post and I promise I’ll get back to you right away.

If you liked this post, don't forget to subscribe to my RSS feed or my email newsletter so you never miss the science.

Take this quick survey and tell me what social media data you'd like to see me analyze.

    Dan,

Congrats on your book- I look forward to getting my hands on it as quickly as possible for myself and clients. With the tidal wave of Social Media books out there right now and coming in the next few months- it is getting to the point of only picking the best and I will put yours in that group based on everything in your blog and e-books that you have produced so far.

Hope it is a nice long one.. Again congrats….

Good idea for a book. I too am a Frank Luntz devotee.

I had a quick 'scan' of the free download. A very factual scientific book. One aspect I missed was some quirky anecdotes. But then maybe that's just me. The problem with all books is they are out-of-date quickly. I had an old book on lulu for a number of years and then finally someone bought it last month. It was massively out of date. But they said they liked it..

I put together a book in one day about my business start-up on lulu:
http://www.bizguide.shorturl.com and set the price at £3.50. Then I used my start-up site http://www.adsbringcustomers.com to advertise my book in a national newspaper business section (cost to me £50).
Response was v. poor. But this is I think a UK specific problem that business is literally 'depressed'. If you offered them free prozac they's say they were too depressed to take it.

Craving for it. This is I think the best possible time make out of it since social media marketing is bursting internet business.

That's great Dan! I am looking forward to learning more about Social Media and how i can be able to fully utilize it effectively. On a personal note, I've been using a Social Media websites like facebook,Twitter, Digg etc to interact with people, exchange ideas, share stories as well as random stuffs online.

However, since I am an entrepreneur at heart I want to continue to learn and discover how i would be able to optimize these platforms. I was exposed to a lot of traditional marketing, but i am aware that things are evolving quite rapidly. Watching the video you prepared made me realize that i am indeed missing out on a lot of stuff and wonderful opportunities. Furthermore, it's amazing to know that its all within my reach.

I’m glad to read that book and I’m interested to know more about social media marketing. Social media sites like Youtube and LinkedIn can also help improve websites . We use these sites to optimize your website easily through sharing video and articles.
